MoFi 5500 Antennas & Signal Boosters
How To Improve The Cell Signal To A MOFI 5500
If you have an issue getting a good cellular signal to your MOFI 5500 Router, we can help. We offer several different options for boosting your cell signal.
Attach An External Antenna
The MOFI 5500 Router has 2 cellular antennas. You can remove the stock antenna(s) and add add one or more external antennas that may improve your signal. Most MOFI 5500 routers have SMA Female connectors on their cellular antennas. You can connect an antenna with SMA Male connectors to one or more ports.
A good, inexpensive option to improving the signal is to attach an external antenna. To get the best performance, the external antenna should be mounted where the cellular signal is best. This is usually near a window or outside wall - outdoors is always better.
A great outdoor antenna option is the Wilson Wide Band Directional antenna. This antenna should be mounted outdoors and pointed towards the nearest service provider tower. Try and minimize the cable length as you add more loss with more cable. A 20 foot cable works well.
A small, more portable option would be one of the small omni-directional antenna below.
MOFI 5500 Powered Signal Booster Options
An even better option would be using a powered building or mobile signal booster system. A Signal Booster can not only boost the signal to your router, but will improve the signal to your cell phones and other cellular devices as well. Listed below are some options.
