Lightening 75 Ohm Surge Protector

Wilson's Surge Protectors are gas surge arresters designed to protect sensitive electronic equipment such as a power booster or repeater system from damage due to excess voltage for currents generated by transient phenomena (lightning or static build-up).

Connect directly to outside antenna or amplfier or use patch RG-6 cable with F Female barrel connector.

Use with Wilson Electronics 75ohm repeater systems such as:

The life of the Arc-Plug™ Cartridge is a function of the surge current amplitude and duration to which the device is subjected. Transients are by their very nature unpredictable in magnitude and energy level. Life may be hundreds of operations, depending on surge current wave shape. After a sufficient number of lighting pulses have been discharged through the Cartridge, there is a gradual lowering of breakdown voltage and insulation resistance. Therefore, cartridge replacement is indicated by an increase in VSWR during transmitter tune-up, or by a "dead" receiver caused by an extremely strong near-miss lighting discharge shorting the cartridge. In this case, the short continues to protect the equipment until cleared.

Where To Install

Install the Lightning Surge Protector (LSP) close to the signal booster. Attach the cable from the outside antenna to the surge protector, using a short length of low loss cable; attach one end to the LSP and the other to the outside antenna connector on the signal booster. Attach a ground wire to the LSP. (For AG Pro 70 or SignalBoost DB Pro use Part# 859988 75 Ohm Lightning Surge Protector).

NOTE: To insure that the competed installation is weather proof, it is imperative that the mating coaxial connectors be sealed using proper materials and procedures.
